Michael Colby is the former executive director of Food & Water, Inc., a national grassroots organization that led campaigns against food irradiation, pesticides and GMOs. He was also the editor of its quarterly magazine, the Food & Water Journal, a leading forum for creative and strategic advocacy, provocative and inspiring essays, and the commingling of the arts and activism. Michael and the work of Food & Water have been featured in hundreds of media venues, including the New York Times, Newsweek, ABC’s 20/20, the CBS Evening News, and the Wall Street Journal. He was also the editor of the Vermont monthly, Wild Matters, a columnist for Vermont’s alternative weekly, Seven Days, and a contributing editor of the book, Fatal Harvest. Michael and his family live in Walden, Vermont, where he practices regenerative forestry with his team of Belgian draft horses and produces maple syrup that is sold and distributed nationwide under the Walden Maple Co. label.
